MUNICIPALITY OF FILOTHEI - PSYCHIKO

PRESS RELEASE

In "orange" to stop the violence against women

The Municipality of Filothei - Psychiko unites its voice and forces with the UN and the global campaign ORANGE THE WORLD, illuminating "orange" the emblematic "Umbrellas" of George Zongolopoulos, a color of awareness to stop the violence against women.By actively participating in the "orange" actions around the world, our Municipality will illuminate the project "Umbrellas", a trademark of our Suburb, from Wednesday 25/11 and for 16 days, until December 10 - World Human Rights Day- sending a strong message to end violence against women.

This year's theme of the international campaign is: "Enlighten the Orange World", with the main goal of raising awareness and support of civil society, in the struggle to awaken against all forms of violence against women. Europe as a whole sheds light on an issue that affects millions of women, illuminating the central buildings and monuments of European cities in orange, symbolizing optimism for a brighter future free of gender-based violence.

The initiative was taken by the Mayor of Filothei - Psychiko, Dimitris Galanis, wanting the Municipality to support the fight against any form of violence against women, following a suggestion by the Soroptimistic Psychiko Club that warmly thanks us for the valuable work and our sensitive community. At the same time, the valuable work of the SDG 17 Greece Network is strengthened.
