Manege Central Exhibition Hall in St. Petersburg

Genii Loci. Greek Art from 1930 to the Present is a large-scale exhibition which is organized at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in St. Petersburg from 30/11/2016 to 09/01/2017 by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports, with the collaboration, for the first time, of the three major public Museums of modern and contemporary art in our country: the National Gallery-Alexandros Soutzos Museum (Athens), the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens (EMST) and the State Museum of Contemporary Art (Thessaloniki) and constitutes the culmination of Greece’s contribution to the 2016 “Greece-Russia” tribute year.

George Zongolopoulos' sculpture entitled Chimneys - Lenses is among the works selected to be presented in the exhibition and it belongs to the collection of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art.
Curators of the exhibition are art historians Effie Agathonikou, Spyros Makkas, Theodore Markoglou and Tina Pandi.

 

Guided tour of Russian students at the George Zongolopoulos Foundation

The George Zongolopoulos Foundation on December 5, 2016 in cooperation with the first Arsakeio Gymnasium Psychikou and teachers Mary Lagourou and Alice Papastathopoulou welcomed group of distinguished students and two teachers from School 13 of St. Petersburg. Children in the framework for their awareness of Greek contemporary art were guided at the Open air Glyptotheque of Psychiko, and at the house and studio of George Zongolopoulos.
