On the occasion of the International Archives Day on June 9 and the installation of a sculpture of George Zongolopoulos at the entrance of the building of the General State Archives (GSA), an event was held on Monday June 11, 2012 in the building of the central offices of GSA. in Psychiko.
The purpose of this event was to become known to the general public the important work of GSA and to display the water-powered sculpture of George Zongolopoulos integrated in a modern architectural building.
In this context were presented a slide-show of architectural drawings and sculptures of Zongolopoulos from the archives of the General State Archives and the George Zongolopoulos Foundation and photos of large-scale sculptures of George Zongolopoulos which have been placed in public spaces and important buildings in Greece and abroad.
The sculpture which was installed in GSA is entitled "Kinetic with water - THREE CIRCLES", 1978 and is consisted of three stainless circles with strings that with the power of water are moving across the frame holding them.
The event was attended by academics, historians, architects and artists. The event included speeches by the Mayor of Filothei - Psychiko Mr. Pantelis Xyridaki, by the President of the George Zongolopoulos Foundation Mr. Nicos Theodoridis, by the President of the General State Archives Mr. Nick Karapidaki and the Director Mrs. Marietta Minotou, by the Emeritus Professor of the National Technical University of Athensand Head of the Archives of Modern Architecture of the Benaki Museum Mrs. Maro Adami - Kardamitsi and by the Art Historian Mr. Thanasis Moutsopoulos.
