"Thesis - Antithesis - Synthesis" at the Ocean Flower Island Museum in China25.05.2021

This year, Greece and China celebrate for the first time the "Greece-China Year of Culture and Tourism, 2021" and Greece is the honored country at the International Exhibition of China "Tides of the Century". In the same year that Greece celebrates the 200th anniversary of the National Revolution that led to the founding of the modern Greek state, the exhibition presented in China is entitled "Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis. In the Belt of Change" curated by art historian Katerina Koskina and produced by PostScriptum by Kostas Konstantinidis, while the architectural design of the exhibition is curated by Maria Maneta.

The exhibition is held at the impressive Ocean Flower Island Museum, Asia's largest man-made island and modern center of culture, entertainment and tourism, spanning 8 individual museums, 7 of which feature artworks by artists from around the world, selected by an international committee of experts, while the 8th museum hosts exclusively the work of the artists of the honored country which is Greece. The exhibition is under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece - General Secretariat of Public Diplomacy and Greeks Abroad, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism, the National Tourism Organization and the Municipality of Athens.

The content of this exhibition brings together an eclectic collection of works of art that includes sculptures, installations, videos, multimedia and digital art works, by 34 pioneering Greek artists or artists of Greek origin. The George Zongolopoulos Foundation participates with the sculpture Tel-Néant by George Zongolopoulos, which in Greece is located in the official pavilion in the Gardens of the Presidential Mansion and at the OTE Headquarters (National Telecommunications Organization).

The works of George Zongolopoulos, non-representational or narrative in their majority, are distillations of mental processes pertaining to universal issues of matter, time, rhythm, form, harmony, dynamics and ideas; issues that cannot be described, yet they determine and concern the Cosmos. The observation of nature and the insight that allowed him to see the "sunrise" of a new order of things and his interest in scientific and technological discoveries led him to the use of new materials, forms and techniques and to the development of a unique sculptural narration that sealed the contemporary art of Greece of the 20th century. The Tel-Néant sculpture explores the ways people communicate with each other and connect with the infinity.

Following the lifting of the measures taken due to the pandemic, the opening of the exhibition took place on May 20, while its duration will be until December 2021.
