When nature adds its brushstroke… and humans lend a hand!

The Eastern “Bazaar” at George Zongolopoulos’ “Umbrellas,” the jewel of Thessaloniki on the New Waterfront, has come to an end.

The administration of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, in collaboration with the Municipal Police and the George Zongolopoulos Foundation, put an end to the degradation of the area surrounding the iconic work "Umbrellas." For many years, the unauthorized installation shown in the photos below not only disrespected the standards of the city of Thessaloniki but also the artwork itself and the great sculptor George Zongolopoulos. The prolonged situation was apparently based on misleading claims and... false alleged authorization from the G. Zongolopoulos Foundation, claims that even convinced GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS.
