On February 10, we participated in International Epilepsy Day by illuminating emblematic works by George Zongolopoulos.
"Pentacycle" in Omonia Square
The George Zongolopoulos Foundation, in collaboration with the City of Athens, supported the initiative of the Hellenic National Association Against Epilepsy by lighting up the Omonia Square fountain and George Zongolopoulos’ sculpture "Pentacycle" in purple.
"Umbrellas" in Thessaloniki
One of the most iconic public artworks in Greece, "Umbrellas" by George Zongolopoulos, located on the New Waterfront of Thessaloniki, was illuminated in purple to symbolize the international campaign for epilepsy awareness. Through this action, the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the George Zongolopoulos Foundation participated in the nationwide initiative under the slogan "Shining a Light on the Dark Side!"
The "Umbrella" in Trikala
In Trikala, the sculpture "Umbrella" was also lit in purple, reinforcing the message of the day. The purple illumination sent a strong message of solidarity with people living with epilepsy.
Let us all join forces to send a clear message: Together, we can shine a light on the dark side of epilepsy and fight against discrimination.
