The opening of Giorgos Zongolopoulos’ sculpture and painting exhibition, Works That Resonate Like Music, took place at the Museum of Modern Greek Art of Rhodes – New Wing of the Nestoridio Mansion, on Thursday, June 15, with a large attendance.

The exhibition is the result of cooperation between the Museum of Modern Greek Art of Rhodes and the Georgios Zongolopoulos Foundation.
Mr. Sergios Aivazis, President of the Museum of Modern Greek Art of Rhodes, welcomed the guests and presented the framework of activities within which the exhibition of Giorgos Zongolopoulos is included.

As he stated, the exhibition will be accompanied throughout its stay in Rhodes by parallel events so that the public can visit and get to know this important artist through different approaches.

Following this, the Museum President invited the Mayor of Rhodes, Mr. Antonis V. Kampourakis, to officially inaugurate the exhibition. The Mayor of Rhodes expressed his admiration for the exhibition and invited all Rhodians and visitors of the island not to miss the opportunity to see Giorgos Zongolopoulos’ works up close as they travel to Rhodes for the first time.

Present at the opening were: the General Consul of Turkey in Rhodes, Mr. Mehmet Atıf ŞEKERCİOĞLU; Deputy Mayor of Cultural Monuments & Building Services, Mr. Stefanos Drakos; Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Public & International Relations, Mr. Athanasios Vyrinis; Deputy Regional Governor of Culture of the Dodecanese and European Programs of the South Aegean, Mr. Christos Bardos; Director of “Diagoras” Airport of Fraport Greece, Mr. Sakis Anyfantis; Deputy Director of the 1st Police Directorate of Dodecanese, Police Director Mr. Giorgos Stergou; Director of PROTOUR, Mr. Dionysis Tsiligiris; Vice President of the Museum of Modern Greek Art, Ms. Mary Mantzon, and members of the Board of Directors; Advisor of the Rhodes Community, Mr. Konstantinos Glentis; school principals, educators, and visual artists.

The exhibition will remain open until October 15, 2023.
