A special event at the New Waterfront of Thessaloniki | May 24, 2025
The George Zongolopoulos Foundation had the honor to contribute to a unique initiative that highlighted the dialogue between art and mental health.
On May 24, 2025, at the iconic sculpture "Umbrellas" on the New Waterfront of Thessaloniki, a festival for mental health awareness and education was hosted, in collaboration with DEYPSY and the psychosocial rehabilitation units of Thessaloniki Prefecture (SYNTHESIS, ALTHAIA, EPSYKA, IASIS, EPAPSY).
The choice of location was no accident. Zongolopoulos’ “Umbrellas,” a symbol of transparency, freedom, and hope, provided the perfect backdrop for an event dedicated to the collective care of mental well-being and the fight against social stigma.
The event included:
• Interactive booths from the participating organizations
• Artistic and musical performances
• Public dialogue and informational materials
• Participatory expression activities for children and adults
The public responded warmly, actively participating in this celebration that highlighted the importance of prevention, acceptance, and psychological support.
As a foundation that promotes culture, aesthetics, and social contribution, we consider the connection between art and the human experience—especially mental health—to be of crucial importance.
We warmly thank all co-organizers, mental health professionals, artists, volunteers, and of course the people of Thessaloniki who enthusiastically supported the effort.
With respect for the legacy of George Zongolopoulos, we continue to build bridges between creativity and human care.
