Orange the World – Τα Γλυπτά του Γιώργου Ζογγολόπουλου
November 25, 2024

On November 25, as part of UNESCO’s global campaign "Orange the World" the George Zongolopoulos Foundation—together with the municipalities of Preveza, Thessaloniki, Trikala, Athens, El Alamein, and Psychiko—illuminated George Zongolopoulos’ sculptures in vibrant orange. This symbolic gesture aimed to highlight the importance of ending violence against women.
The campaign is part of a growing international movement that seeks to raise awareness and mobilize action against gender-based violence.

Zongolopoulos’ works, with their distinct geometric and abstract aesthetic, offer a dynamic visual language that now resonates with the call for social change and solidarity. When his sculptures are illuminated in orange, they take on a new symbolism—becoming powerful emblems of unity and a shared commitment to a world free of violence.

This emblematic initiative by UNESCO underscores the urgent need for a global alliance to protect women from all forms of abuse. Zongolopoulos’ sculptures, located across Greece and around the world, continue to convey a powerful message: that culture and art can serve as vehicles for positive social change.
